Connect your computer to the network

Last revision September 6, 2005

The computer network is a shared resource and must be carefully controlled to prevent one computer, printer, or other device from interfering with successful operation of others. Before connecting anything to the Earth Sciences computer network, you must read and follow these instructions.

Connection steps:

  1. Make a physical connection to the network
  2. Register for an IP address
  3. Configure your network settings
  4. Secure your computer against hackers
